The traditional knitwear of Fair Isle is a combination of geometric patterns to create a visual story. As a tribute to my late Grandfather and my family’s spinning mill, my collection is inspired by my heritage in the Shetland Isles along with the history of the knitwear and its sustainable qualities. Melby is a collection that reuses traditional waste knitwear from Jamieson’s Spinning Mill with a combination of my own designs to create an organic textile material. It is a selection of abstract drawings, patterns and colours of landscape translated into contemporary designs reviving tradition whilst embracing modern knitwear.
